Please note: this position is available for academic credit only (confirmation of academic credit required). As an editorial intern you will have a chance to learn about the publishing industry while gaining professional experience. Tasks will include reading and reviewing sample chapters, writing marketing copy, conducting Internet research for authors, competition, and photographs, and basic administrative duties. 10-15 hours a week, flexible schedule.

Description: The Greenwood Publishing Group (Westport, CT) one of the world's leading publishers of reference/academic titles for librarians and professionals, general interest books and electronic resources has an internship opportunity in its Finance department. As an accounting intern in the Finance department you will have a chance to learn about the Accounting/Finance field while gaining professional experience. Areas of responsibility will include updating Excel files for department expenses, inputting data from worksheets to master Excel Budget files, analyses of expense accounts using Excel files, various activities in the Accounts Receivable Department, including collection calls and daily cash reconciliations, administrative support to the Senior Royalties Administrator, assistance with monthly journal entry preparation, assisting Inventory Manager with various duties such as logging in inventory receiving reports, entering unit cost changes, processing print-on-demand invoices and related activity. Please note: this position is available for academic credit only, and confirmation of the receipt of academic credit is required.

Requirements: Ideal candidate will be an accounting or business major with a minimum of one year of accounting courses. Some office experience is preferred; experience with Excel is required. Flexibility and a willingness to work with various mentors on a well-supervised variety of tasks is required. We have a casual but professional, structured environment requiring an individual who expects to perform to a high standard. As a marketing intern, you will have a chance to learn about the publishing industry while gaining professional experience. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented with strong computer skills - specifically Excel; Word; Outlook; internet. After orientation and training on our company database, the intern will be responsible for internet research and coordinating displays of books and promotional materials at conferences and events. The intern will also work with outside vendors, internal departments and authors, and handle other marketing and general clerical tasks, including filing, answering phones, etc., as assigned.

Description: The Greenwood Publishing Group (Westport, CT), a publisher of reference, academic and general interest books, has internship opportunities available in its Editorial Administration department. As an editorial intern in the Administration department you will have a chance to learn about the publishing industry while gaining professional experience. Tasks will include general clerical responsibilities such as filing, xeroxing, and data entry, as well as some more in-depth projects such as indexing our photo library, assisting with the process of cataloging our publications with the Library of Congress, helping to prepare reports for copyrighting our titles, and helping to review manuscripts for transmittal to our Production department. 10-20 hours a week, flexible schedule. Description: The Greenwood Electronic Media team is currently seeking a Project Manager, Electronic Media (GEM). This position will report to M. DeMassa, Associate Project Director. Responsibilities and duties will include: •Coordinating new product development and existing product updates with editorial, technical, marketing, sales, and production resources •Project requirements development including: •Active participation in the development of ideas and features •Documentation and refining of documentation •Soliciting project team and management sign-off •Facilitating communication between all project team members as well as management •Creating and managing project schedules •Researching product-specific needs •Coordinating with outside vendors for technology development and UI design needs

Requirements: This position requires: •At least five years of solid project management experience on web or technology-based projects. •The ability to oversee details on multiple projects concurrently. •Publishing experience preferably in academic electronic markets. •Technical familiarity with web-based technologies. At a minimum you will have: •A basic knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash •Facility with Windows •Excellent communication and organizational skills •A facility with MSOffice applications •Experience in developing information architecture schema and UI design development •An understanding of databases and database publishing processes You will also have skills in: •MSOffice •General database skills And •Basic HTML/XML knowledge

Senior Project Manager, Print and ElectronicBack to Top
Description: We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Print and Electronic for Production. This position manages a moderate amount of print book projects, from manuscript through final XML delivery, and is a key team member of the integrated print-electronic workflow. This position manages electronic media (XML and PDF) as well as the production and preparation of print files for manufacturing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: •Validating QC XML files from vendors •Supplying vendors with feedback on tagging structural issues •Working with printers and vendors to resolve printer/production errors •Ensuring the timely delivery of all XML files •Performing final manufacturing checks wh8ich involving printer cost-comparison analyses. •Verifying the accuracy of conversion vendors’ final invoices

Requirements: This position requires 3+ years of experience in a book publishing environment. Committed to meeting deadlines, they will also be detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Technology and Software skills needed, but are not limited to: •Knowledge of various desktop publishing programs •XML, XML-DTD, XSL, PDF •Prepress and manufacturing systems •The ability to work in networked business environment, including use of Windows-based databases. •A knowledge of digital art issues, scanning and art layout •Current printing technologies.
