There are other excellent bibliographies that deal with one of the time periods or one geographic area, but none that approaches the scope of this work. Because there is little else readily available, the chapters on the medieval and Renaissance periods are especially valuable.... Separate name and author indexes are provided. All of the 6,894 items included in the bibliography are published monographs or journal articles accessible in the US....
