Description: A newly revised, expanded, and updated version of the late Robert Sobel's standard reference work, this set is an authoritative and easy-to-use source of detailed biographical information about all members of the Executive Branch—cabinet heads, presidents, and vice presidents—from the first president of the Continental Congress through the administration of George W. Bush. Researchers will find the most significant dates in the subject's life and information about family, religious affiliation, career prior to and after cabinet duty, organizational affiliations, awards and honors, major publications, and date and place of death. Each entry also contains a short bibliographic reference to important primary and secondary works to be consulted for additional information.

This treasure trove of useful information saves researchers the tedious and time-consuming task of scouring through biographies or other voluminous writings to find a sought-after date, event, award, or other biographical detail. Students, professionals, and amateur researchers alike will find these volumes a useful tool for exploring American politics, past and present.
