Series Title: Biographies of Disease
Reviews:
  • Biographies of Disease: Depression...provides biography-oriented insight into the personal lives of those who have suffered from this disease. Drawing from historical and current examples, and parelleling many major events from world history, the book seems timeless in its ability to capture the consistencies of human suffering and the distress often associate with depression. The use of case vignettes and letters serves to personalize the seemingly unrelenting inner anguish of those who have not responded to intervention or have not been fortunate enough to receive it.

Description: Diseases have a history, and understanding that history helps us understand how best to treat and control disease today. Today's students are confronted with a panoply of often-frightening illnesses and afflictions - the Biography of Diseases series provides students with the information that they need to understand the origin of various maladies, how they impact contemporary society, and how doctors and researchers from around the world are fighting to devise treatments to alleviate or cure these diseases.
