About the Author: PETER HARRY RIST has been the chair of the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, for six years./e He teaches courses in film history and aesthetics and specializing in third world cinemas. His has had articles published on various aspects of film studies, including Canadian, Korean, and Chinese cinemas.
