  • "Low has compiled more 650 rhymes, fingerplays, poems, and songs. Her introduction supports new storytime planners as well as veterans who might need an additional song or poem for a previously planned program. The final pages provide major indexes for authors, titles, and first lines. However, beware that the entries are indexed by 'a,' 'and,' and 'the.' There is also a secondary index by type, such as 'Counting and Math Rhymes' or Spanish rhymes. Organization is alphabetical by animal from 'Alligator' to 'Zebra.' Rhymes about multiple animals are in a separate listing. Simple musical scores are provided for the songs. Add this title if additional professional material is needed to freshen up activity collections."

Description: Looking for the perfect bunny rhyme to add to your story hour program? Or a song about ducks? Or maybe you just need all the words or music to "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". Animals are one of the most popular themes for children's programs. This versatile volume provides you with an A to Z resource to more than 650 traditional children's rhymes, songs, and fingerplays that are based on animals, from alligators to zebras. In addition to words, you'll find musical scores for "Old MacDonald", "The Eentsy, Weentsy Spider", "Pop! Goes the Weasel" and many more, instructions for action rhymes and fingerplays, and a handful of Spanish versions. Age/grade levels are provided for each.

This is a handy, one-stop resource that you will turn to again and again. A thematic index and generous cross-referencing will help you locate exactly what you need; and age/grade levels will help you determine which material is best suited to your audience.
