Peter D. Eckel PETER D. ECKEL directs a series of senior executive leadership programs at the American Council on Education, including the year-long Institute for New Chief Academic Officers. He also oversees a set of projects that chart the directions that colleges and universities are pursuing to respond to increased competition and changing fiscal realities. He is the lead author of the ACE occasional paper series On Change, The Changing Enterprise, and The Changing Relationships between States and Institutions. His books include Taking the Reins: Transformation in Higher Education (ACE/Oryx Series on Higher Education), as well as Changing Course: Eliminating Academic Programs and Bridging the Gap between Research and Practice in Higher Education, both co-authored by Adrianna Kezar.
