» The President's Position: Debating the Issues
Imprint:
Greenwood Press
What were the key issues that shaped each U.S. presidency? This series is specially designed to foster critical thinking in students of American history and government. Each entry offers the narrative summary of one issue and a capsule description of the relevant president's position. Opposing documents and introductions establish political context. Carefully selected excerpts from primary sources include presidential memoirs, speeches, letters, Supreme Court decisions, newspaper editorials, and comments from prominent private citizens. A list of suggested further reading will encourage interested students to deepen their debates about, and understanding of, the economic, social, and political issues that shaped our nation.
