Praeger Guidelines
You will need to provide a hard copy and an electronic Word file containing the final version of your manuscript. Please be aware that if there is a discrepancy between the disk and the hard copy version of your manuscript, the disk version will be considered the master version.
  1. Hard copy. Submit one double-spaced, single-sided, consecutively numbered hard copy of your complete manuscript. The entire manuscript, including notes (and/or bibliography), must be double-spaced. All pages must bear page numbers and must be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript, beginning with Arabic number 1 for the title page (see Checklist for Preparing and Submitting Your Final Manuscript for the order of manuscript elements). Start each chapter on a new page.
Do not use automatic hyphenation, right-justify the text or insert blank lines between paragraphs. Please use left-justification and default margins (or margins of at least 1 inch). Use the tab key, not the space bar, for paragraph indentations.

Please provide separate hard copy versions of all figures and tables. Do not embed electronic images or tables in the text. To indicate placement of figures and tables use written instructions, e.g., “Place Figure 1 About Here,” with at least one line of space above and below. All figures and tables must be numbered and have titles and, if necessary, source information. All photographs must have accompanying captions and credit information. Captions should be complete sentences that explain what is depicted and how the image relates to the text.
  2. Electronic copy. Along with the hard copy, provide a copy of your chapter on diskette or CD-RW. Each chapter should be saved as a separate disk file. Do NOT save the entire manuscript in one massive file. Make sure you do not save your file as read-only. Any art – tables, figures, etc. – should be saved in separate files on the disk. Do not embed electronic images or tables in the text. File names should reflect the contents of the file (e.g., INTRO; CHAP1; BIBLIO).

Make sure that the disk matches the hard copy exactly; any last minute editing should be reflected on the printed copy and in the electronic copy. If there is a discrepancy, we will use the disk copy. Remove all extraneous or outdated files from the disk and keep backup disks for your own records. Be sure to make a backup copy of the electronic files for emergencies.
