A New Look for Daily Life Online
As of Fall 2006 subscribers to the integrated version of Daily Life Online
(for example, those who subscribe to both Daily Life through History and
World Cultures Today accessed through one homepage) will see a
re-designed homepage. This reflects the additional content that has been added
to the site since launch, as well as taking account of user requests to make
features such as images, maps, and audio links more up front. In addition, the
entire content of the site is being re-indexed and re-organized. What does this
mean? Users will keep their familiar browse and search navigation, but the
results will be even better!
Look out for the June newsletter for a sneak preview of the new home page. World Folklore and Folklife
This latest addition to the Daily Life Online family launches in
September 2006. What does it include? Christmas celebrations, Cinderella tales,
Morris dancing, proverbs, trickster gods, folk music,
the Jade Emperor, urban legends, and many more examples of traditional life and culture around the world. World Folklore and Folklife bridges the gap between past and present, and opens up new ways of exploring core curriculum topics such as literature, social and religious practices, history, art, music, and languages. Also including thousands of folk and fairy tales, World Folklore and Folklife brings together for the first time primary sources and the contextual material that explains them. Content includes
Teacher Resources site, now with added correlations

social studies standards from across the United States. Teachers can search for
lesson plans by title, keyword, or correlation to their state’s curriculum.
Furthermore, all Daily Life Online content so far is fully correlated,
so that relevant content is only a click away from the standard itself.
