New Content
We have added 40 new titles to The African American Experience, including the Encyclopedia of the Great Black Migration (3 volumes, Greenwood, 2006), a Booklist Editor's Choice selection; Race, Ethnicity, and Education (4 volumes, Praeger, 2006), Encyclopedia of African American Business (2 volumes, Greenwood, 2006), and Writing African American Women (2 volumes, Greenwood, 2006). In addition to multivolume reference sets, the enhancement content also features book-length biographies on figures ranging from Hank Aaron to Condoleezza Rice, from Martin Luther King to Charles Mingus. TimelineOur new Timeline features thousands of entries, dating from the career of free African explorer Juan Garrido in 1496 to the death of Civil Rights pioneer Rosa Parks in late 2005. The Timeline can be navigated by century and decade and keyword search. Based on The African American Chronology (2006) by Kwando M. Kinshasa, chair of the African American Studies Department at City University of New York and advisory board member for The African American Experience, the Timeline's entries are labeled within such topic areas as "Arts and Performing Arts," "Education," and "Politics" to allow for easy scanning. |
